The Lapierre Zesty has long been a favourite with European trail/all-mountain riders. Some tweaks for 2013 should keep this French fancy at the top of its game.
1 Angle of the dangle
Lapierre lopped 1° off the Zesty’s head angle this year and it’s lost another 0.5° (now 66.5°) with the move to a 150mm-travel fork for 2013. This should add a little more stability at speed and more confidence on steep slopes. The seat angle is slacker too, at 74°. Rear travel stays at 140mm.
2 Size matters
Size L and XL Zestys have more breathing space for 2013 – top tubes are 10mm and 25mm longer, respectively. The chainstays have also been lengthened, from 425mm to 430mm, to add stability, and new 12x142mm rear dropouts should stiffen up the back end.
3 Shock of the new
The big news, though, is that high-end Zestys will sport the new EI (Electric Intelligence) Shock developed with RockShox. This senses impacts through the fork and automatically adjusts the rear damping to suit, switching between lockout, pedalling platform and fully open modes.
